Primarily used as a scouting unit, the Attack Cycle is Nod's fastest ground unit. Although it trades armour for speed, the Cycle is capable of sustaining moderate damage before being destroyed. It carries twin rocket launchers capable of hitting both air and ground units.

The attack cycle is a successor to the TWI Recon bike, used by Nod, CABAL and The Forgotten during the Second Tiberium War and the Firestorm Conflict.

Background[]

Like its predecessor, it incorporates missile launchers, but can only fire two missiles at a time. It is extremely fast but has very little armour. Its turning rate is much faster than the previous recon bike and thus its manoeuvrability is also much higher. The rider is a single Nod soldier, lying prone.

They were succeeded by the more advanced attack bikes in the Third Tiberium War.

Game unit[]

Attack cycles are useful as scouting units and as light weapons platforms against armored enemy targets. Unfortunately, their lack of any armor means that they are not effective in prolonged combat situations. When becoming Elite, attack cycles can now attack enemy aircraft.

Due to the drastically uneven cost effectiveness of the Nod tick tanks, attack cycles often ended up forming the real backbone of the Nod motorpool in the Second Tiberium War. Tick tanks cost just as much as GDI's Titans, but have weaker armor and guns. Unfortunately, they are not significantly faster than Titans either.

AI behavior[]

Attack Cycles controlled by the AI have the following attack patterns:

Easy[]

  • 1x targeting Construction Yards, production structures, power plants, Tiberium Refineries, Upgrade Center or Missile Silo
    • This task force may be accompanied by 1 Light Infantry (Missile Silo only) or 1 Harpy
    • This task force will only be ordered to attack power plants if enemy base is at low power mode
    • This task force will only be ordered to attack Tiberium Refineries if the enemy owns 4 or more of these
  • 1x targeting vehicles or harvesters
    • This task force may be accompanied by 1 additional Attack Cycle
    • This task force will only be ordered to attack harvesters if the enemy owns 4 or more of these
  • 1x guarding base

Medium/Hard[]

  • 4x targeting Construction Yards, production structures, power plants, Tiberium Refineries, Upgrade Center or Missile Silo
    • This task force may be accompanied by 1 Harpy
    • This task force will only be ordered to attack power plants if enemy base is at low power mode
    • This task force will only be ordered to attack Tiberium Refineries if the enemy a certain number of these (3 in Medium, 2 in Hard)
  • 4x targeting vehicles or harvesters
    • This task force may be accompanied by 4 additional Attack Cycles
    • This task force will only be ordered to attack harvesters if the enemy owns a certain number of these (3 in Medium, 2 in Hard)
  • 4x guarding base
