The B-52 Stratofortress was a heavy American bomber widely used during the GLA Conflict. They, alongside the B2 stealth bomber, shouldered the load of releasing the United States' most devastating munitions upon enemy encampments. They are most famous for delivering the apocalyptic fuel air bomb, which was among the most powerful weapons used in the entire war.

Background[]

The B-52 is a long-range strategic bomber whose use dates back to 1952. In spite of the development of more modern designs for strategic bombers, such as the B2 stealth bomber, the B-52 remains in service due to its distinction in economical efficiency and overall effectiveness.

Game unit[]

The B-52 is summoned in lieu of the more common C-130 Hercules when a general requires the power of America's mailed fist. In reality, however, they share most of their statistics with the C-130, as well as their weakness to concentrated AA fire. Due to how B-52s are more likely to see enemy fire as opposed to the more reinforcement-based C-130, it is often recommended that B-52 attack runs be postponed until hostile AA is suppressed to allow the slower B-52 a clear shot at its target.

Like the C-130, the B-52 can be upgraded with Countermeasures along with the rest of America's aircraft. This improves their survivability against missile-based ordinance.

B-52s are among the few aircraft that are immune to EMP effects, which allows them to survive such a strike that would normally instantly terminate aircraft.

Trivia[]

  • On occasion, B-52s have been deployed for carpet bombing runs. However, they do not normally serve in this capacity, and cannot be made to do so in normal skirmish matches.
  • The B-52's locomotor is reused for other factions' transport aircraft.
