The Boeing CH-47 Chinook was a versatile, twin-engine, tandem rotor heavy-lift helicopter. The contra-rotating rotors eliminated the need for an anti-torque vertical rotor, allowing all power to be used for lift and thrust. Its top speed of 170 knots (196 mph, 315 km/h) was faster than 1960s, and even many contemporary, utility and attack helicopters. Its primary roles included troop movement, artillery emplacement and battlefield resupply. There is a wide loading ramp at the rear of the fuselage and three external-cargo hooks.
Chinooks saw extensive use during Great World War II by both sides as infantry transports and ordnance delivery units. Dubbed "flying APCs", they were capable of delivering infantry to any location on the battlefield and evacuate vital personnel, such as doctor Albert Einstein.

After GWWII the Allies discommissioned them in favor of the newer Nighthawk Transport. The Soviets lost theirs along with most of their airpower as a penalty of losing the war. By today the USSR uses the new twinblade.

After the war, they remained in service of the Global Defense Initiative, which overhauled their design and made them even more powerful, capable of delivering tanks to the battlefield. Due to cost cutting measures to keep Chinooks cheap enough for battlefield construction, they could only carry a maximum of 5 soldiers.
After the First Tiberium War, the CH-47 and the CH-46 were decommissioned in favour of the Orca Transports and Orca Dropships.
