Chemical warriors were Black Hand[1] members who underwent higher level weapons training and outfitted with specialised biohazard gear that allowed them to walk through Tiberium unharmed (although it was very delicate and offered little protection against weapons fire). Chem warriors were deployed by the Brotherhood of Nod, but only very late in the First Tiberium War.
They used chem sprayer weapons. These weapons were similar in operation to the flamethrower, with the exception that instead of fuel in the tanks, it contained Tiberium waste under extremely high pressure. When released, the particulate excelled at killing enemy infantry (though at the risk of mutating the victim into a Visceroid).
Nod Commanders mostly used Chem warriors to defend Tiberium fields, even though it would need other units to assist it in the event of enemy tanks attacking the field, due to the Chem warrior's short range. The Chem warrior was very effective against enemy infantry, evident from many battles in which whole GDI squads were lost in combat to a single Chem warrior.
Chem warriors were phased out following the First Tiberium War. However, similar soldiers called Tiberium troopers are fielded by the Marked of Kane faction of Nod. With cybernetic enhancements and weapons designed by Doctor Alphonse Giraud, the Tiberium troopers entered combat in the early 2050s, after the Third Tiberium War.
