Introduction

Help, Canon, Tactics, Speculation, Policy

This page decribes how to create a page on the Command and Conquer Wiki.

Step 1 - What Topic?

You need a title for your article; you can find this in one of ways:

  1. Think up one yourself, e.g. "GDI", or "Great World War II". First search for it, to make sure there isn't already an article about that subject (if there is, and you want to add info to it, see How to Edit an Article). Then, just us the create an article page.
  2. A second option is to follow a red link in an article. The means the article that is being linked to does not exist- so you can write it.
  3. You could also find an article to write by hopping over to Special:Wantedpages. This "Special" page is a list of all the articles that don't exist yet that are linked to by other articles. It is basically a list of all the "red links" mentioned in #2.
  4. A less automated method of finding non-existant pages is by going to the project Checklist. This basically is a list of all the normal units, buildings, etc., that this site really should have a pages about, but doesn't yet. This checklist also contains some suggestions as to what you might want to add to the article, adn also some warnings over things about the topic which might be disputed by some editors at the Canon or Speculation pages. Also, if you particularly want a page to be written, as well as putting it on the Requested Articles list, you could add it to the relevant section of the checklist, in the hope that someone might notice it.

Step 2 - How do I lay out my article

Articles in this wiki follow a general pattern of organisation, which, while not you are not strictly forced to do every little bit, you are asked to include at least a few main sections (If you are only writing a very short article (a "stub"), see below). Depending on the length of the article, the "==" tags might not be required.

These are:

  1. Introduction short section at beginning of article, before table of contents, and not using a seperate heading from the article title (no "==" signs)
  2. History
  3. Description
  4. Usage

For a more detailed possible layout see Article Layout.

Step 3 - Where do I get information from?

A number of sources:

1. First and formost, the game itself. Anything that's either apparent from the game itself (IE, Titans were used as heavy assault units, Cyborg Commandos were extremely powerful, or from the AI of the game (Cyborgs were sent out in patrols).

2. On the same level, anything present in EA documentation or official reports. Keep in mind that information regarding products that have not yet come out yet is regarded as suspicious.

3. Anything that can be reasonably interpreted for consistency's sake, or to include as much of both campaigns (when there are 2 campaigns, as possible.) See article on First Tiberium War
