Little is known about the vehicle located by Nod near Cairo. Obviously of alien origin, the wreck was a saucer with no obvious engines nor steering equipment. Its interior, when infiltrated by captain Parker, was empty and bore no signs of removed equipment or damage from Nod researchers. The only artifact of note was an odd, round metal object with a pulsating blue cross embedded in it. It is unknown if there was anything in or on the object, and GDI scientists could not find it when searching the craft. It can only be assumed that the object was removed by Nod before GDI 'collected' the saucer. In light of seemingly-alien technology produced by Nod in later years, particularly the "Scrin Ship" and Banshee fighter, this object may indeed have been (at least part) of the Tacitus.

Kane opted to erect the Cairo Temple of Nod in the vincinity of the wreckage and over the ancient Nod temple. It is known that Nod spent a great deal of time researching the secrets of the vessel and it is not out of the question that the results of this research were poured into the creation of the comparably majestic Scrin vessel, as its interior bears some similarity to the aesthetics of the crashed saucer and the Banshee fighter. It may be speculated that due to its relatively non-insectoid appearance, as well as an isignia on the hatch not closely resembling that of the Scrin, that the design is that of the species that created the Tacitus, rather than the Scrin, and perhaps even the source of Nod's pieces of the Tacitus. It should be noted that, in retrospect, its coloration bears much resemblance to that of the Scrin, further alluding to a relationship between the two races.

By 2030 the UFO has been removed from its crash site near Cairo by GDI and it's current whereabouts are unknown.
