[edit] Background

The basis of these cybernetic commandos came during the Second Tiberium War where they served in the Brotherhood's forces in the early part of the 21st century until the Firestorm Crisis when NOD's advanced artificial intelligence known as CABAL rebelled in the time when Kane had disappeared. This led to the first true alliance between the Global Defense Initiative and the Brotherhood of Nod in order to combat the rogue AI. The practice of using by Nod largely ended at that point and were not widely seen in the Third Tiberium War though Kane had managed to utilize LEGION to reactivate his cyborg army known as the Marked of Kane.[3]

In the years that followed, Kane decided to form an alliance with GDI in order to save the Earth's revaged ecosystem from the dangers of Tiberium. Thus, he spearheaded the Tiberium Control Network whilst at the same time he made use of many of the advances of CABAL in cybernetic technology as well as use of advanced Scrin alloys to create a new breed of Cyborg Commando. Since then, these powerful infantry had become a source of dread to enemy forces.[3]

[edit] Description

These cybernetic commandos were elite infantry for the Nod Offense-class.[1] Their bodies were made entirely through the use of cybernetics allowing them to be recovered by the Brotherhood if damaged. However, rare units amongst them faced destruction and restoration constantly to the point that their brains gained a sense of detachment from their fellow comrades. This, when combined with their enhancements as well as lone wolf nature meant that each commando typically prefered to work alone on the field. Some were even provided with personal stealth generators allowing them to be deployed behind enemy lines where they were capable of operating for weeks without food or water or any form of support.[3]

The enhancements faced by these elite soldiers meant that they were capable of continued fighting even after losing limbs and sustaining heavy damage.[1] Its been noted that their sheer force of will was capable of allowing even damaged commandos to continue to function where they pull their wasted bodies on the battlefield with their hands alone in order to reach their targets. When finding a vehicle, they were able to tear it open with their enhanced limbs in order to eliminate the crew inside whereupon these cyborgs were capable of hijacking the enemy vehicle.[3] When the Commando is brought down to 0 health, he respawns in a legless form that can crawl quickly across the ground. If he reaches melee range with an enemy, he paralyzes the enemy in place and carves himself an entry into the vehicle. When the Cybernetic Commando takes over a vehicle, it hits maximum veterancy immediately.[2]

In terms of weaponry, they were were armed primarily with a laser-based rifle.[1] This was the OL-71 "Pilum" Laser which had been designed to be hooked directly to the cyborgs power core in order to allow for rapid weapon fire.[3]
