The disc thrower was GDI's grenadier infantry analogue during the Second Tiberium War. Unlike previous grenadiers the thrown ordnance was discus shaped and was thrown accordingly. The aerodynamic shape increased range and allowed it to skip along the ground.
The armour worn by the disc throwers was a slightly upgraded version of that used by regular light infantry units, modified to protect the wearer from shrapnel they might be endangered with as well as fitted with a back-mounted disc storage system.
