The Growth Stimulator was a more advanced version of the Growth Accelerator, deployed exclusively by the aggressive Reaper-17 sect to fuel their war efforts during the Invasion of Earth.

Background[]

Much like the variant deployed by the rest of the units attached to the Scrin harvesting force, the Growth Stimulator's central feature was its gently pulsating, roughly triangular structure whose mysterious inner workings accelerated the growth of attached Tiberium fields.

However, the Reaper-17 was not satisfied with the products of the original design: their extensive and powerful ground invasion armies, as well as the Tiberium-based augmentation and mutation practiced upon their own forces, demanded far more than the basic Accelerator could provide. As a result, Reaper-17 designed and deployed a superior version dubbed the "Growth Stimulator" that appeared to have additional apparatuses attached to it, most notably four Tiberium-filled extraction pods similar to those found on the Scrin Extractor structure. These pods functioned similarly to the human-designed Tiberium Spike, capable of pulling Tiberium out of the ground and refining it on-site.

Game Structure[]

Much like the standard Growth Accelerator, the regrowth rate of the attached Tiberium field is increased by 50% once it is deployed on the central chasm of a Tiberium field. Due to its extra equipment, it is also capable of providing 15 credits every 5 seconds. While this is nothing exceptional (as the capturable Tiberium Spike only gives 10 credits, but at a much faster rate), the fact that Stimulators are buildable and that this income stacked on top of what was gathered by their Harvesters, the Growth Stimulator was a truly useful structure.

Note that, aside from the Tiberium Spike-like passive income and being available only to Reaper-17, the Growth Stimulator was functionally identical to the standard Scrin Growth Accelerator, and likewise was subject to the same deployment conditions and limitations - they could be deployed on any revealed Tiberium field's "core", though could not be teleported in if an Accelerator, Stimulator, or Tiberium Hive was already present.

Trivia[]

  • Unlike the Growth Accelerator, the Growth Stimulator (along with the rest of the Reaper-17 arsenal, barring the Reaper Tripod) cannot be commanded or constructed in the campaign.
    • Reaper-17 makes its first and only appearance in Tacitus Interruptus, where they do not possess a base.
