Watch out for those petroleum barrels, they seem highly unstable. Perhaps we can use them to our advantage...

Forward Command Post

Barrels left near a Forward Command Post, a disaster waiting to happen

Barrels were standard storage devices for excavated oil, and were used to transport and temporarily store crude oil before transporting it to a refinery. Due to issues with storage, they were often scattered around the base, and due to the oil's flammability, posed an extreme danger if and when detonated.

Barrels are present in all released games from Red Alert to Red Alert 3. In some campaign missions, barrels are placed in certain spots, usually next to enemy vehicles or walls, to aid the player.

Aside from their consistent appearance in the Red Alert series, they are also present in Command and Conquer: Generals and Tiberium Wars. In both games they also reprised their role as non-constructible aids in their respective campaigns.
