“ | Let's build. - Construction dozer |
” |
Construction dozers are the primary construction vehicle of both the United States and China in Generals and Zero Hour. Although the American and Chinese dozers have different visual designs, they perform mostly identically.
Official description[]
“ | This multipurpose vehicle is the backbone of the USA fighting forces. In addition to constructing all of the USA military structures, you can use the Construction Dozer to repair occupied structures. It is also effective at clearing minefields. - Generals manual(src) |
” |
Game unit[]
“ | Why do I always get the dirty jobs? - American dozer, ordered to clear a minefield |
” |
Construction dozers are built at the Command Center and can be repaired at the War Factory. Dozers are able to build and repair all battlefield structures, including civilian buildings and tech structures, as well as all friendly structures. Essentially a light armored vehicle, dozers has some immunity against contaminated or irradiated battlefield and can also withstand small arms fire.
Construction dozers, even with the ability to clear minefields, cannot directly attack enemy units. They can, however, drive over enemy infantry. Note that the Chinese dozer is slower and less maneuverable, though. Since they are largely defenseless, they are good cannon fodder for enemy tanks. EMP weaponry can disable them and hijackers can take over them.
Abilities[]
Clear Mines
The construction dozer will clear mines and booby traps within the assigned area.

Usage[]
“ | Let's get to work! - Construction Dozer USA |
” |
Dozers are recommended to be built at the start of a match to ensure for fast building and expansion, and their ability to clear minefields is invaluable when attacking Chinese structures later in the game.
Counters[]

” |
Having no weapons, construction dozers need to be escorted whenever they venture out of your main base. Although surprisingly resilient against small arms fire, dozers can be reduced to wreckage very quickly by rockets or tank shells. Artillery units can also target the dozers and destroy them from afar, preventing the player from building any structures. A favorite, and often very daring, GLA tactic was to attempt to capture an enemy dozer, thus allowing them to build American and Chinese structures, and consequently units. Jarmen Kell is often sent in to hijack construction dozers as his ability can kill the dozer's occupant, leaving it unmanned and vulnerable to be taken by enemy forces. Hijackers can also quickly steal one when left unguarded.
