CNCR NodLogo The following is based on the Nod campaign of Tiberian Dawn and might contradict canon.
Establish your base, then build and defend the Temple of Nod. All GDI forces are to destroyed. Kane has ordered you to defend the Temple at all costs, even your own life. Do not allow GDI forces to overrun you.
- Mission briefing

Cradle of My Temple is the thirteenth and final mission of the Nod campaign in Tiberian Dawn.[1]

Background[]

We have reached the end. The final piece to my puzzle is within your grasp. Two GDI bases rest on ground I have chosen to be the cradle of my Temple. Remove them in any way you can.
- Kane

With GDI's Ion Cannon firing codes now in the hands of Nod along with Botswana, Kane deemed it the perfect time to push GDI out of Africa for good. As a symbol of Nod's firm grip over the continent, Kane planned to build a Temple of Nod at Cape Town, South Africa - the location of GDI's last stronghold. Kane left the task to the Nod Commander while he prepared the pieces to hack into the Ion Cannon's defence matrix.

Events[]

Nod forces set up a base in the vicinity of the last two remaining GDI bases in South Africa. Having done so they began to mine the region's Tiberium resources until they could construct their new Temple of Nod and accumulate sufficient forces to destroy both GDI bases to secure the area and finish off the GDI.

There were however six GDI bases in the vicinity of Cape Town. As the Nod Commander fought to destroy the two bases adjacent to the location of Nod's new temple, other Nod forces under different commanders fought to destroy the other four bases in two other battles which are less famous.

Aftermath[]

The world... Where to strike? Where will the world most keenly feel the blade of GDI treachery? You have done much to aid the Brotherhood towards this final victory. The choice - my friend - is yours...

Nod completes its new temple in South Africa

GDI had lost their last foothold on Africa and Nod cemented their control over the whole continent. Nod would then hack into GDI's Ion Cannon network by bypassing its defence matrix using their stolen security codes, and the Nod Commander was given the opportunity by Kane decide whether to fire the orbital weapon onto one of four GDI country monuments - the White House, the Eiffel Tower, the Brandenburg Gate or the Houses of Parliament.

This blow humiliated the GDI and created public concerns as to the safety of GDI's orbital weaponry. At the same time public discontent weakened the GDI and prevented them from being able to continue the fight against Nod around the world.
