- Flak Trooper, ready to fire

The Flak Trooper was a special type of infantry used by the Soviets in the Great World War III and the Psychic Dominator Disaster. He carries a powerful portable flak cannon over his shoulder, thus making him slower than the average conscript. He's very useful in infantry firefights, for his flak cannon was highly effective against infantry for its splash damage, they also have a surprisingly long range. However, he has light armor, and could be killed easily by enemy anti-infantry units.

The trooper also had anti-aircraft capabilities, as their flak cannons allow proximity shells to be shot high into the air. The unit has a similar splash damage against air units that are clustered close together, like harrier jets en-route to a target. It should be noted that in comparison to the Soviet's Flak cannon emplacement, the flak trooper pales in range and damage. But this is made up for by being cheaper, higher mobility, being able to fire without being vulnerable to power shortages and finally the versatility of being able to engage a wide variety of targets, not just aerial units. Groups of these troopers can defend an important site, their cannons capable of destroying enemy air with ease.

Flak troopers on the other hand, are not permanent solutions to cheap base defence. They also have a low performance rate versus armoured foes. Their flak cannons are almost useless against enemy armor.

Pros Cons
  • Best against Tanks and Jets
  • Cheaper than Javelins
  • May switch to Mines which devastates Tanks
  • Weak to Infantry and Dogs
  • Mines only attack vehicles and structures
  • Not going to win one on one with Mecha Tengus or Riptides

- Flak Trooper

The Flak Trooper has made a comeback in World War III. It still retains its ability to shoot down aircraft, along with anti-tank mines but its Flak Gun is now more effective against tanks than infantry. Flak Troopers are essentially convicts, forced to carry out the remainder of their initial sentence (Sentnced to infamous Gulags as evidenced by a Flak Trooper quote when ordered to garrison a building) to carry these massive cannons and satchels of explosives, which detonate spectacularly should the trooper be crushed. Flak Troopers were used to successfully defend the Peter & Paul Fortress in Leningrad, where they proved essential in stopping the Imperial forces, especially Chopper-VXs and Tsunami Tanks. They are especially formidable when garrisoned in buildings. They are cheap, moderately effective anti-tank units and very effective anti-air units, easily equal to the Javelin soldier and superior to the Tankbuster in terms of versatility. However, they are still very vulnerable to anti-infantry weapons and can be crushed by tanks. Even so, they are an essential complement to any infantry attack force.

[edit] Command & Conquer: Red Alert (iPhone)

The Flak Trooper is still anti air and anti vehicle unit only but they cannot use Magnetic mines.
