During the Great World War II, Soviet commanders were facing the problem of overwhelming numbers of Allied saboteurs infiltrating their bases. Looking for a simple solution, they finally received a flame-based turret, a very capable defence against infantry and light vehicles.
The basic workings of the tower were very simple - two top-mounted tanks with an extremely flammable liquid connected to several hoses, which discharged powerful balls of fire, which were propelled by a high pressure blast of flammable gas, depending on what base it was stationed at, the gases used varied, but the result was the same an extremely hot and large fireball would incinerate anything it hit. Interestingly, it had the ability to ignore what ever was infront of the target,so it could fire at a target at the back of a squadron of infantry e.t.c.
The flame balls were excellent at destroying light vehicles and burning infantry and the towers has more armor than the tesla coil. However, they were completely ineffective against heavier units, such as Medium Tanks and susceptible to long-range weaponry, such as M110 Artillery or Rocket Infantry squads.
The defences were fully automated, governed by a sophisticated IFF system. However, lack of human control rendered them susceptible to hackers - indeed, several times did Allied infiltrators manage to convert a turret to their side or deactivate them completely by causing a spontaneous detonation of the fuel tanks.
Along with other flame weapons, they were phased out by the Allied Forces and banned.
