The gap generator was a fragile, towering structure that was developed by Albert Einstein for the Allies in Great World War II as an offshoot of the Philadelphia Experiment. It essentially was a giant, U-shaped magnetic coil that caused interference in the atmosphere that prevented enemy units and command interfaces from mapping or exploring a segment of the battlefield in close proximity to the generator.

A mobile version of the generator, the Mobile Gap Generator, was produced.

A new model was in service during Great World War III, it performed the same function but without the coils needing to be constantly rotating: this resulted in less mechanical failures.

In Red Alert 3 the Mirage Tank had a mini Gap Generator.
