Inferno Cannons were China's basic artillery units. They were essentially self-propelled howitzers. However, rather than fire a conventional shell, Inferno Cannons fired napalm shells. These exploded and burned on impact, doing the most damage to softer targets. Inferno Cannons were really designed to operate not alone, but in groups of three or four. If this many Inferno Cannons fired at the same target, simultaneously, they could create a deadly firestorm.

Compared to the Nuke Cannon, Inferno Cannons lacked outright explosive stopping power, and only worked well in groups. However, they were also cheaper and easier to transport and manoeuvre on the battlefield, and did not have to deploy before firing. Because it took a handful of Inferno Cannons firing at the same spot to do any significant damage, they were most effective against stationary targets, be they buildings or groups of unsuspecting vehicles that could be cooked in a firestorm.
Inferno Cannons suffered the usual weaknesses of artillery units; they were slow moving and had poor armour. Therefore, protection from other units was essential.
