George Smith Patton Jr. was an important Allied general during GWWII. During World War I he was one of the first tank commanders and during the Second Great World War he continued to command. While his tactics were impressive and he is remembered for his bravado, he is also remembered for his angry, humorless, personality. Even so, he had many admirers, including fellow American General George Carville.
