Gradenko
Rank: Field Marshall
Role: Advisor to Stalin
Service: Great World War II (Executed)
Faction: USSR

Field Marshall Gradenko was a competent military officer who was one of the leaders of Red Army troops in the conquest of East Asia (specifically, the air force[1]). His success there resulted in his promotion to Marshal and won him an advisory position to Joseph Stalin during the subsequent war in Europe. Though Gradenko had been an outstanding strategist, he made a number of mistakes at the beginning of this new war which included the loss of the USSR's stockpiles of nerve gas, a critical element in Stalin's original plans. Stalin also blamed Gradenko for failures in pacifying civilian resistence, and for Albert Einstein's escape.

Gradenko's forces on Elba Island were the first Soviet Troops to witness the Chronosphere's usage. Gradenko relayed this to Stalin, whom became obsessed with capturing a prototype Chronosphere.

NKVD leader Nadia, who was Gradenko's main opponent at the head of the Communist party, convinced Stalin of Gradenko's incompetence. To prove his loyalty, Gradenko was forced by Stalin to sign the death warrants of Soviet generals who Stalin claimed were plotting to assassinate him.

Eventually, Gradenko was executed as a traitor by Nadia, who poisoned his tea. He was replaced in his role by Georgi Kukov, who was later also executed.
