Gunter von Esling was the German commander of the Allies during Second World War. He is considered to be the most brilliant general in the war and his tactics crippled the Soviet forces. His second in command was Colonel Nikos Stavros, and he was seen briefing the famed Field Commander A9 on multiple occassions. He was the one who would give orders to commando Tanya Adams. Stavros, Esling, and Field Commander A9 personally led the assault on Moscow, ending the war.
Little is known about his life after the war.

As a result of his outstanding service at leading the Allies during the Great World War II, an airbase in Iceland was named in his honor. In the Soviet campaign of Red Alert 3, that airbase was destroyed by Soviet forces.
