A Hunter-Seeker was a jet-powered suicide droid in the Second Tiberium War whose sole role is detonating itself along with an enemy structure or unit. Once launched it will automatically locate and go to the enemy base even if it is out of commander sight or stealthed, a commander could easilly find an enemy base by looking at its course. The droid moved at extreme speeds and is almost impossible to destroy en route.
It was also exceptionally powerful, being able to destroy any unit or structure in one attack-not even the Mammoth Mk. II or the Cyborg Commando could survive the detonation.
As such, there was almost no method of defending against it, except for destroying it's launch facility (the Temple of Nod or the Upgrade center with a Seeker control node installed).
Following the Firestorm Crisis, the system proved to be ineffective compared to manned systems. Also, electronic countermeasures affected the vulnerable systems. By the Third Tiberium War, Hunter-Seekers were phased out by both GDI and Nod due to advancements in jamming and detection systems on both sides.
