The Industrial Plant is the Soviet Union's economic structure in Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge, and decreases the price and production time of all mechanical vehicles by 25%.

Background[]

With the onset of the Psychic Dominator Disaster, Yuri revealed his true colors and openly abandoned the Soviet Union. His desertion came with the cloning technology he developed and the Psychic Corps he commanded. The loss of the cloning technology was devastating, as the Union was no longer able to raise massive armies of infantry for their cause. They did not dwell on this loss, however, and noted that most modern conflicts were fought by vehicles instead of infantry. With this realization, along with the knowledge that the Cloning Vat's technologies were completely unfathomable without Yuri, they left the infantry legions of old in the past in favor of a greater army of mechanized forces, a decision that would ultimately see them through to the end.

Game Building[]

The Industrial Plant makes all units produced from the fourth command tab (excluding Giant Squids, who are organic) 25% cheaper. This drastically reduces the cost of even the most expensive units, and some (like the already cheap Flak Track) become laughably easy to produce.

While the Industrial Plant does not affect build time, the credits saved can help commanders produce larger armies with the same amount of money. For instance, with an Industrial Plant on the field a Rhino Heavy Tank becomes less expensive than the already-outgunned Lasher Tanks, conferring an edge in both firepower and numbers.

Soviet and Allied Ore Refineries are also affected by Industrial Plants, as their $2000 credit cost also accounts for the affected Ore Miner that is deployed upon completion. Oddly, Slave Miners only benefit from this bonus if constructed from the War Factory and not from the Construction Yard.

Industrial Plants are normally limited to one per player, and have been made uncapturable to enforce that limit. However, in the event players do have more than one Industrial Plant (maps, modding, etc.), the effect will stack with virtually no limit. Note that, due to how prices can only ever be integers, the lowest possible cost is $1.

Trivia[]

  • After constructing a Battle Lab in Deja Vu, Lt. Zofia will introduce the Industrial Plant with the words, "Sir, if you build and deploy our new Industrial Plant, you will be able to produce our units more quickly and efficiently." However, in reality it does not have any bearing on build speed.
