Infantry refers to military personnel that travel by foot and their weapons. This includes mutants and cyborgs as well.
Traditionally, infantry were the backbone of the army, as well as extremely numerous. Infantry had a number of advantages and disadvantages compared with vehicles, as they are quite vulnerable to being crushed by them. The Scrin Disintegrator, however, displays a unique capability of detonating into a plasma explosion when it is crushed, perhaps due to the plamsa cells located across its body.

[edit] Great World War II
Back then in GWWII, both Allied and Soviet light infantry were just like the infantry of today: lightly armored, effective against infantry only, and pathetically armed. However, infantry came in different flavours: Rocket Infantry, flamethrower infantry, grenadiers, engineers, spies and even the Soviet-exclusive Shock Trooper and Allied-exclusive commando, named "Tanya Adams".
The Soviets, too, had their first ventures into combining man with machine before the Brotherhood of Nod did, resulting in the cyborg commando "Volkov" and his cybernetic dog aide, "Chitzkoi". Unfortunately, he wasn't without a few... side effects.
[edit] Tiberium-Era
[edit] First Tiberium War
[edit] Second Tiberium War
Units considered infantry during the Second Tiberium War were Light infantry on the universal, Disc throwers and Jump Jet Infantry on the GDI side, and Rocket Infantry and Cyborg (Infantry) on the Nod side. Also, non-affiliated infantry was present in TW2, like the Forgotten troops, such as the Mutant Soldier and Mutant Sergeant.
