Light combat vehicles
From Command and Conquer Wiki
Light vehicles are land units that generally emphasize speed and manueverability over firepower. While not generally a match versus tanks head on, light vehicles are generally superior against infantry and fill specialized roles, such as scouting and AA.

[edit] Great World War II
The Allied Forces of the Great World War II relied upon the Ranger Jeep as a light reconnaissance vehicle. Armed with a M60 Machinegun, the ranger was lightly armored and incapable of matching most other vehicles head on, though it could hold it's own against infantry. The APC does the same thing Rangers do but they can carry infantry.
The Soviet forces, seemingly obsessed with brute force, lacked virtually any light vehicles.
[edit] First Tiberium War
GDI's primary light vehicle throughout the First Tiberium War was the Humvee, the spirtual successor of the Jeep. It too was armed with an M60 and was used in a similar fashion. Due to their low cost, GDI was willing to "donate" them to petty warlords that opposed Nod in third world countries, such Nikoomba. Their APCs were powerful support units for infantry and against them.
Nod Forces used Chenowth Patrol Vehicles, also M60 equipped. It was faster than the Humvee, but also more fragile. Also, Nod used recon bikes, heavily modified motorcycles that carried twin TOW missile launchers, suitable for both anti-armor and anti-aircraft uses. These were extremely fast, but also very lightly armored.
[edit] Second Tiberium War
With wheeled vehicles being replaced by mechanized walkers, GDI's lightest mech served as it's primary scout. The Wolverine sported twin light gatling guns, making it effective in an anti-infantry role. Hover MLRS carry rockets but has weak armor.
Nod's light units were extremely similar to their First Tiberium War arsennal. Attack buggies were very similar to the Chenowth, and attack cycles were analogous to the recon bikes, except with much better turn rates.
[edit] Third Tiberium War
GDI's recall of mechanized walkers led it to adopt the CC-6 Pitbull as a light scout. Pitbulls had stealth detectors and missile launchers, and were competent AA units. Guardian APCs were equipped with heavy machine guns, the same guns from old A-10 jets, to handle air and infantry. They can also carry an infantry squad with the soldiers complementing the Guardian's firepower via firing slits.
Nod continued to refine their mainstay light units. First, the Raider buggy was much like their previous buggies, except it possessed the ability for upgades. Spitfire laser capacitors replace the machinegun with a rapidly firing laser cannon, increasing the raiders lethality, and EMP coils allow the raider to temporarily disrupt electronics, rendering the buggy, and any structures or vehicles nearby inoperable for a time. Attack bikes lacked upgrade ability, however, their stealth detection modules could be hijacked by Avatars, giving the Avatar stealth detection abilities. They also have Reckoners and Mantis for efficiency.
The Scrin also appear to have a light vehicle; the Seeker. These are able to sense stealth, and their energy launchers are effective against vehicles and aircraft.
