London

London is the capital, and largest city, of the United Kingdom. London was originally founded over two millenia ago by the Roman Empire. After the fall of Rome, London was eventually repopulated by Anglo-Saxons. For the next several centuries, the city was repeatedly raided by Vikings, though it still became the most prosperous and largest city in England.

Following the conquest of England by William of Normandy, London rose to prominence in the English political system as well, superceding Winchester as the English capital in the 12th century. Over the next several centuries, London's prosperity continued, though it suffered terrible catastrophes such as an outbreak of the Black Plague, and a great fire that wiped out much of the city.

By the twentieth Century, London was one of the most important cities in the world. During the Great World War II, London served as a command center for the Allied Forces. Following the war, an influx of immigrants from the UK's commonwealth areas increased the already massive population.

London remains a central fixture in world finances and culture. By the First Tiberium War, Nod's worth on the London Gold Exchange (surpassing that of the G8) was a well known fact.

During the Scrin invasion during the Third Tiberium War, London was one of the first cities hit. Although the rampant destruction that the Scrin caused to New Eden was not possible, as only lighter Scrin units attacked London, the attack was devastating nonetheless. Multiple civilian structures were destroyed, along with an entire GDI garrison. Historic landmarks, such as the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace, were also leveled.
