Mammoth tank (Red Alert 1)
From Command and Conquer Wiki
- For more uses see: Mammoth tank.
The Mammoth tank was a very heavy Soviet tank of the Second World War. The enormous chassis was supported by a pair of tracks on each side. The turret was plugged into the hull with a relatively thin screw-like extension. There was no large turret well and the turret was nearly a self-contained module with no crew transfer being possible between the turret and hull. The vehicle was equipped to carry out limited battlefield repairs independently.
In addition to being a threat to ground targets the tank's missiles could also engage aircraft. Heavy armament and protection came at the cost of mobility and resources.
The Mammoth tank spawned an even more powerful experimental variant. On an unconventional front the tank's chassis was used for the MAD tank. Both of these developments were stopped by the Allies before they could be widely deployed.
