The SEALs are elite Special Operations soldiers of the United States Navy and shared to Allied nation's Navy, appearing in Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge. In Red Alert 2, they were a campaign-only unit.

Background

SEALs are specially trained commandos whose sharp aim with their submachine guns allow them to mow down infantry with ease. They carry C4 explosives that could demolish any building that they reached. They are trained to swim across bodies of water and qualified to operate in a variety of climates, including deserts, jungles, and arctic environments. Their submachine guns are waterproof and can be deployed inside water bodies without trouble. The submachine is somewhat limited in armour piercing capability.

They are not known to operate after the events of the Psychic Dominator Disaster, the Post-war Crisis and the War of the Three Powers.

Game unit

Navy SEALs are able to kill any infantry with one burst of their submachine gun. If they can reach a building, their C4 charge will instantly destroy it. They are also competent swimmers, making their C4 charges a threat to ships as well.

The SEALs are not invincible, however. They have no defence against vehicles or aircraft. They also cannot get close to base defenses like Sentry guns or Tesla coils quickly enough to plant C4 charges before being killed, unless distracted by your tanks or other heavy-armoured units. Other powerful infantry units such as hero units, Snipers, Desolators, and Yuri clones out-range them and will kill them off easily. In the water, the SEAL is especially vulnerable to submerged units, as he cannot plant C4 on them unless they surface.

For increased protection and mobility, a SEAL can be deployed inside an IFV. This will increase their speed greatly, as well as give protection against powerful anti-infantry units such as the Sniper and Desolator. However, this also means that the SEAL cannot enter the water or perform demolition jobs until he exits the IFV. IFV escorts may be helpful against air threats. A SEAL IFV can destroy a Terror drone with a single machine gun burst.

Cons

  • Useless against vehicles
  • Vulnerable to any kind of air unit; even a Rocketeer can take down a SEAL easily
  • Vulnerable to any sort of anti-infantry fire
  • SEALs are an easy target to Snipers and Viruses if not detected
  • Cannot overcome base defences because he must get close to plant C4 charges, to combat this one or two tanks may be sent first to distract it
  • Cannot destroy Nuclear Reactors or Oil Derricks without killing himself
  • Can easily be crushed by heavy armor (including Soviet Flak Tracks)
  • Not immune to mind control; can severely affect friendly infantry when captured
  • Cannot detect submerged units and is vulnerable to them
  • Campaign-only (RA2 only)
  • While in no veterancy, a SEAL can be overwhelmed with a large group of GIs, Conscripts or Initiates

  • Notably, they are the only infantry to have two different SHPs, depending on the location SEALs are needed.
  • Oddly, in Yuri's Revenge, they are available for every Allied nation, despite the SEALs being a US Navy unit.
