The operations center was a Nod field structure employed during the Third Tiberium War. Its advanced communications arrays were required to support more advanced Nod structures.

The operations center provides a range of support powers and upgrades.

In Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath, the dozer blades and signature generator upgrades are provided by the operations center rather than the tech lab. Also, certain support powers are enabled or disabled depending on the Nod faction used.
