RA2:Ore Refinery
From Command and Conquer Wiki
An Ore Refinery was a facility used in the Great World War II, III and World War III to separate the ore gathered by Ore trucks, War miners, Chrono miners, Ore collectors and Prospectors.
During the GWWII it could store up to 1000 units of ore, storing additional ore required Ore silos to be built. When built, it deployed a single Ore Truck.
By GWWIII, the ore storage limitation had been overcome by both the Allies and Soviets when they developed their own sperate models. The Soviet's ore refinery was deployed with a War miner. After harvesting ore, the War miner would return to the ore refinery and dump it onto a conveyor that carried it into the building. The Allied ore refinery deployed with a Chrono Miner which, after harvesting ore, would Chronoshift to the Ore Refinery and dump the ore into a pit in the building. The Allied Ore Refinery was equipped with a beacon that allowed Chrono miners to chronoshift to them at any time. Yuri radically changed the idea of the standard ore refinery during the Psychic Dominator Disaster: he built mobile refineries with top-mounted machine guns to fend off infantry assaults and these could be moved to an ore field and deployed there. Mind-controlled slaves would dig up the ore with primitive shovels, but when the miner was destroyed, the slaves would be freed of mind-control and turn to the faction that freed them (any slaves currently residing in the slave miner would be killed, however).
During World War III the Allies, Soviets and the Empire of the Rising Sun made use of the ore refinery, although the miners were replaced by ore collectors for the Soviets (the Empire was inactive during GWWII and GWWIII, but also uses ore collectors) and prospectors for the Allies. These prospectors can also be deployed into a command hub, giving ground control to the commander. Nevertheless, ore must be gathered from ore nodes, mines with large amounts of ore inside them. The new refineries pick up the gathered ore by means of a magnet. As of WWIII, ore refineries can be built on water and the ore 'miners' are able to traverse bodies of water on their own.
