- Mission briefing
Reinforce Egypt is the nineth mission in Tiberian Dawn during Nod's campaign in 2001.
After their Invasion Of Egypt Nod forces had established what seemed like a secure grip on the country. However they still had to contend with the GDI navy and it's armoured gunboats. Having overcome the Egyptian fortifications the GDI navy took control of the Nile and overran Egypt although the stubborn resistance of certain Nod elements bought some time.
When Nod forces had overrun Egypt they had been welcome by some Egyptians as liberators from the GDI backed President and his dictatorship. However in the meantime Egypt had suffered a catastrophe, the spread of Tiberium had led to mass outbreak of Tiberium sickness and famine due to Tiberium's destructive effects on farmland. Some argued that this was due to Nod's utter disregard for Egyptian wellbeing while others argued that the costs of the war had simply deprived Nod of the resources to deal effectively with what was afterall a global crisis. Things became so bad that more than half of the Egyptian population had either died or emigrated, the population shrank from 56.8 million to 23.1 million.
When GDI forces regained control of Egypt they did not restore the old President to power. Instead they swiftly held new elections between GDI supporting parties and candaidates. This democratic gesture in combination with all the catastrophes that had occured under Nod rule successfully won over a significant portion of the Egyptian population over to supporting the GDI. But with Nod's victory in Zaire, Kane was now free to focus on regaining Egypt.
Nod Commander (Tiberian Dawn), the rising star of Nod and now online chess partner to Kane himself was ordered to see to the situation in Egypt. The plan he was given once again involved taking a small force from Libya or Sudan to capture an abandoned base, but this time it was a Nod base along the Nile that previously had been devastated by the GDI navy. Additonally he was informed that a local village had shown enthusiastic participation in the new elections and he was thus to show them no mercy.
He was also informed that he could call upon the aid of the Brotherhood of Nod's new weapon, the Devil's Tongue flame tank. Having reoccupied and rebuilt the Nod base, Nod Commander (Tiberian Dawn) would utterly destroy the GDI base and all the GDI forces in the area. It is not know however whether he obeyed Kane's recommendations to destroy the village however.
Having rebuilt their base at Luxor, Nod forces would swiftly rebuild their Nile fortifications, probably now with Obelisks of Light. Having thus secured themselves against the assault of the GDI navy from the Nile, Nod forces would sweep down the Nile from Sudan and march on into Cairo.
The recent elections would prove a boon for Nod. Now Nod had a definate record of who the GDI supporters in Egypt were they could now massacre them. Which is exactly what they did. In a great bloodbath Nod eliminated a great number of Egypts GDI supporters. Nod would remain in control of Egypt through the whole intervening period between the First Tiberium War and the Second Tiberium War despite the collapse of Nod as a coherant organisation.
However it can be surmised from the fact that Egypt still matters at all by the Second Tiberium War that Nod to some extent now dealt with Egypts problems and avoiding any further major demographic collapses.
