The vehicle carries four high caliber cannons mounted to the sides of its turret, guided with a high fidelity radar, and is capable of literally tearing through enemy aircraft with ease. Slingshot ammunition could be upgraded with tungsten shells, making it the most powerful anti-air unit fielded, on par with the Black Hand Mantis drone. The quad cannons do not have enough depression to be able to target ground units, however.
Although excellent for anti-air defense the Slingshot lacks any form of ground attack and its light armour and weaponry makes the unit vulnerable to infantry and other vehicles. It can, however, kill infantry by running them over. Due to their lack of any way to attack ground units, Slingshots should always be used only as support units and should never be used to lead an attack. Reguardless these AA vehicles are good for shooting down Planetary Assault Carriers and their fighters.
A group of heroic-level Slingshots were seen defending the covert GDI lab where they were keeping a complete duplicate of Nod's Stealth databank. Some were also airlifted in Chile in the failed attempt to stop the Black Hand from kidnapping Dr. Alphonse Giraud, GDI's leading Liquid Tiberium researcher.
