The vehicle known only as the Sputnik is the Soviet equivalent to the Allied Prospector. It is an unarmed amphibious craft, able to be produced at both the war factory and the naval yard. When a Soviet commander spots a place where he can establish an outpost, especially near an ore node, he can order the vehicle to make its way to that particular place and deploy it (even on water). The deployed Sputnik gives ground control to the commander and structures can be built near the outpost. However, it is very vulnerable and must be adequately protected from enemy assaults. Its deployment time is also rather short.
