The Stealth tank is a revolutionary vehicle of Nod in Tiberian Dawn

Background

The stealth tanks of the First Tiberium War are a Nod tracked missile carrier, equipped with a Lazarus shield that allows them to cloak nearly instantenously and disappear from sight. Unfortunately, as stealth tanks mount both missile launchers and a stealth generator onto a tank frame, to avoid sacrificing speed or increasing costs beyond any reasonable limit, stealth tanks are lightly armoured. The Global Defense Initiative researched the stealth tank properties, as part of project A2411.5. Stealth tanks are named by Kane "Ezekiel's Wheel", after the biblical prophet's vision.

When the tank fires its twin Dragon TOW missiles it has to briefly deactivate its camouflage; as the cloaking system was incapable of recalculating the changing characteristics of the launchers during firing.

Legacy

By the time the Second Tiberium War had begun, Nod had succeeded these units with the second generation of stealth tanks.

In-game

Good points:

  • The ultimate hit & run weapon.
  • Excellent against aircraft and tanks.
  • Very fast for a ground unit.
  • Very useful in Tiberium fields to harass unsuspecting harvesters

Bad points:

  • Light armour.
  • Expensive and only available at tier 3.
  • Useless against infantry unless running them over

Trivia

  • Rather ironically, stealth tanks are not capable of detecting other stealthed units.
  • The German name of the Nod stealth tank is "cloak of silence" (ger. Mantel des Schweigens).
