Talk:MiG-29

From Command and Conquer Wiki

I, and apparently 69.234.144.73, think that the Counterstrike mission with the Allied nuclear MiG is canon. And that the owners think it isn't, considering the revisions that have been made. So, I'm just wondering, why isn't it canon? Is it because the Allies were never shown to have nuclear weapons in the Red Alert main game?

Yes. Replay the FMVs from the original Red Alert. The Allies did not posess nuclear weapons and USSR first developed them, which was a shock to the Allied command. That's why they needed Kosygin Shaur M. S. Grizlin 18:25, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

Dude in the Great World War II article it said that the Soviets had to destroy a heavy armoured Mig using a Nuke.(Assaulthead 01:17, 23 October 2007 (UTC))

Is it just me, or do the in-game MiGs look like the MiG-23 instead of the MiG-29 (which would make far more sense given RA1's time period)?

Eh, we'll go by the cutscenes, it's easier to make things out. As for the timeline thing; the Allies somehow have the Abrams tank and Apache gunship in the 1950s, so I'll assume it's a MiG-29. Raptor22 21:39, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Superceded?

I think the statement that MiG was superceded by F-18 and F-22 is unprovable. This is because - MiG were in service with Soviet\Russian Air Force, not with Allied or American. And this seems higly unlikely, that Russia adopted F-18 or F-22 (latter is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for our budget). As for GDI air force - they were formed only after 1995.....

Well... changed to something more logical. Shaur M. S. Grizlin 18:21, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

It think, we should just drop off the line about MiGs being superceded by some american fighter. There is no reason for Russian Air Force to buy F-22s (with incredible cost of 250 000 000 USD per one unit) or F-18s that are no way better than MiG-29SMT fighter, but cost more...

Uh, I have to ask you to limit trying to apply real-life to Red Alert. After all, MiG-29s weren't developed in the 1950s. Shaur M. S. Grizlin 12:41, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
