The "Titan" Battle Mechanized Walker was GDI's main armour unit during the Second Tiberium War. The Mk. II Titan was a huge bipedal unit, a modern version of older Medium Tanks, designed to be a decent all around combat platform, useful in attacks and defense. It features a 120mm cannon that fires a shell effective against armor and structures. Due to its large height of 25 feet, the unit had a good vision radius. Owing to their height and the size of their weapons, Titans also had a good deal of range, useful for sieges without being attacked from the base.
Despite its strengths, Nod forces found ways to counter it effectively, including deployed Tick Tanks, whose lower profile and increased armour (due to being partially burrowed) made them an effective challenger. Another was using Rocket Infantry against them, especially on higher ground or the Advanced Artillery. Another counter was using the EMP Cannon, provided the Titans weren't spaced out.
Titans were universal war machines but suffered from their lack of speed and inability to effectively counter infantry units. The faster Wolverines were used for this purpose, although it should be noted that Titans, especially in these large groups, could simply crush infantry under their massive feet. Also, mass deployment of Titan walkers was almost impossible, especially in an urban setting.
The Titan chassis has been used extensively by GDI and many advanced walkers used either newer version Titan chassis or modified ones. An example of this approach was the Juggernaut.
However, despite these advantages, the walker was insanely expensive to maintain and not very reliable due to the amount of mechanisms and electronics it carried as well as the fragility of its legs and as such was largely phased out and replaced by the more versatile Predator MBT. A Titan Mk. II would be put into service exclusively for the Steel Talons armoured battalion which can crush tanks.
