Major Vladimir Kosygin was a Soviet researcher that pioneered nuclear weapons development along with the intercontinental ballistic missiles to deliver the payload. As a nuclear strategist, he posessed exceptional insight into the works of the Soviet nuclear program and it's capabilities. Repulsed by Joseph Stalin's desire to destroy Europe with these weapons, he defected to the Allied Forces and was evacuated by them from a Soviet base in Riga, Latvia.

He then provided general Gunther von Esling with tactical information and data concerning the size of Stalin's nuclear arsenal and the location of the main research and development military base, the Dark Horseman.
