Weapons factory
From Command and Conquer Wiki
As traditional methods of supplying frontline forces failed, as shown by Great World War II, militaries worldwide shifted from fielding massive armies to highly mobile strike forces capable of estabilishing self sufficent military bases. The weapons factory was part of the revolution in warfare.
Since the new strike forces were frequently undermanned and underequipped to face well entrenched enemy forces usually operating from permanent bases, the weapons factory was designed with manufacturing combat vehicles on the frontline, utilising resources gathered on location.
The design evolved, slowly, but steadily shifting towards full automation of its functions. The first fully automated factories were introduced in the last years of the twentieth century by the Global Defense Initiative, utilizing Master Control Terminal technology allowing for a drastic reduction of required crew sizes. They were fully capable of building combat vehicles fast, adhering to the highest quality requirements.
The designs continued to be upgraded and revised, and by 2030 both Nod and GDI utilized weapons factories, a tendency that continues to this day. Modern factories are equipped with top of the line nano assemblers and other construction tools, able to construct and deploy almost any combat vehicle in under a minute, in no small part thanks to the versatility of Tiberium as a resource.
Additionally, war factories of the fourth generation are equipped with repair drones, automated flying robots capable of repairing any damaged vehicles in the vincinity of the factory, as long as they are still functioning.
