Their will is my will...

Borrowing from the ancient adage "If you want something done right, do it yourself," Yuri created many clones of himself to carry out his will across the globe. Although they were genetically identical to the original Yuri, Yuri clones were still not as powerful as the original, Yuri Prime.

Psychic experimentation was already underway during the Stalin's time, culminating in what was known as PsiCorps and its prominent member, Yuri. As the PsiCorps was not fully utilized before the war ended, they were able to evade Allies' notice in the aftermath and secretly continue to develop their psychic technology. One of their breakthroughs was the creation of the Psi-Corps trooper. The Soviets, however, did not fully trust it for his capability (and potential to rebel) and thus limited their ranks and research with a tight leash.

Using this knowledge, Yuri established a new program to develop his own version of elite infantry (on par with Navy SEALs and Desolators). The resulting clones resemble the original Psi-Corps trooper, but with loyalty to Yuri alone. Each one is capable of mind-controlling almost any enemy unit. Furthermore, in a desperate situation, a Yuri clone can send out a massive psychic blast, killing almost any infantry unit within its radius. However, unlike their Soviet predecessors, they can not harm friendly units. Yuri, unlike the Soviets, can mass produce this elite infantry without the fear of being mind-controlled by his own army.

In War of the Three Powers they were not seen again. Presumably, with Professor Einstein's advancements removed from the equation, the Soviets never took an interest in psychic research.

They will obey...
- Yuri Clone

Yuri clones are used to capture enemy units. These units can then be used to fight, but most of the time they are immediately sent to a Grinder or a Bio reactor. The unit becomes available to train from Yuri's Barracks once a Psychic radar is established on the field.

Yuri clones could only mind-control one unit at a time, making them vulnerable to groups of enemy units. Although their psychic blast can instantly kill large groups of infantry, it is uncertain how a clone would get close enough to unleash a blast before being killed. Furthermore, some units could not be controlled by Yuri clones. Chrono Miners, War Miners and Slave Miners could not be mind-controlled, as the first two, being deemed vital by their sides, were given automated robotic systems, and the Slave Miner being psychic itself (but only towards its own slaves).

Furthermore, Boris and Tanya were immune to mind-control, as they had been trained to resist it. Non-human units, such as attack dogs and squid, are psychologically incompatible with Yuri's mind-control techniques. The Soviet Terror drones and Allied Robot tanks are completely robotic. Finally, if a unit is already mind-controlled, the clones are unable to forcibly break the existing psychic link and assert their own projected will, unless the link is terminated from the other end. Units that are psychic themselves cannot be controlled by any means.

  • Can take control of most enemies and turn them against their comrades.
  • Can mind-control paratroopers before they hit the ground.
  • Can also release a Psychic Blast which kills all nearby enemy infantry units.
  • Mind-controlled units are good money sources with a Grinder.
  • Since they are mind-controllers themselves, Yuri Clones are immune to enemy mind control.
  • Mind-controlling a transport will trap loaded units inside it, not allowing them to use weapons and giving money for them when destroyed by a Grinder.
  • A Battle Fortress (preferably mind-controlled) makes good protection for five Yuri Clones and can be used as a good alternative to the Mastermind. However, the Psychic Blast is unusable while inside one. Note that Yuri Clones mind-controlling an enemy can not exit a Battle Fortress, forcing the player to destroy the mind-controlled units by force-firing, sending them into a Grinder, or simply getting them killed by an enemy.
  • In turn, an IFV with one Yuri Clone can emit Psychic Blasts at a very high rate, but cannot be used to mind-control enemies.

  • Defenseless against units garrisoned in buildings.
  • Highly vulnerable to radiation.
  • Vulnerable to aircraft and base defenses.
  • Cannot mind-control units that are already mind-controlled.
  • Easily swarmed by cheap units like Conscripts.
  • Groups of commando units can kill them before they get anyone killed.
  • Terror Drones and Attack Dogs can easily kill them.
  • Robot Tanks and ore miners are immune to mind-control, allowing them to easily crush Yuri Clones.
  • Since they are armed, Soviet War Miners easily dispose of Yuri Clones.
  • Completely useless against Chaos Drones.
  • Brutes are also effective against them, but they can still be killed by Psychic Blasts.
  • Boris is immune to mind-control and can kill Yuri Clones instantly without getting inside their Psychic Blast range.
  • Tanya is also effective against them, but she has to get inside Psychic Blast range.
  • Since they are invisible to enemies while stationary, Mirage Tanks can eliminate Yuri Clones before getting mind-controlled, since they will not automatically mind-control them if stationary.
  • Extremely vulnerable to ranged units like Snipers, Viruses, Grand Cannons, Desolators, and Prism Tanks.
  • Anti-infantry in numbers can kill them easily before causing too much damage.
  • Slow moving.
  • Can not be garrisoned in transports while mind-controlling an enemy, leaving them very vulnerable.

  • Strangely, Yuri Clones are not voiced by Yuri's actor, Udo Kier.

Behind the Scenes

The Imperial commando Yuriko Omega's special ability is very similar to the Yuri psychic shockwave.
